PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The PWSI Academy Training Program is where a selected group of U8 players meet every week to emphasize skill development and nurture a love for playing soccer in a fun, competitive, and age-appropriate environment. Academy players enjoy the opportunity to play with and against gifted players of similar motivation and ability.

The Prince William Youth Soccer Academy is a unique and specialized training program for a select group boys and girls. The Academy provides a structured comprehensive curriculum which emphasizes skill development and small-sided play. The Prince William Youth Soccer Academy presents a terrific opportunity for any gifted male or female youth player wishing to take their game to the highest level.

TRAINING FOCUS

The coaching staff will be spending the majority of the training session working on improving the flair and technical abilities (control, passing, shooting, dribbling) of the individual player. They will also spend a lot of time on small sided tactics and repetitions such as 1v1, 1v2, 2v2, 2v3, 3v3 activities dealing with the attacking and defensive aspects of the game of soccer. Occasionally, former players who have graduated from the PWSI Youth Academy Program will often participate in sessions to positively increase the pressure and demands of the younger players forcing them to deal with older competition.

SUMMER PRE-SEASON CAMP

Players invited into the Academy Program will participate in a mini pre-season soccer camp August 25th-28th, 2008 at Howison Park from 4:00-5:30pm.

WINTER INDOOR TRAINING

PW Academy Players will train during the months of Jan, Feb, and March 2009 indoors at the Dale City Rec Center during the week.
