ORGANIZATION
The Prince William Courage sponsors competitive play for its youth players at three different levels of competition: The Red level consists of players who are committed to playing high level soccer year round.
PHILOSOPHY
The Prince William Courage (“Club”) believes that the pursuit of excellence in sports helps to develop maturity in children and young adults and that the experiences a player has with the Club will be beneficial throughout his or her lifetime. The Club believes that a youth sports program should be holistic and that competition should produce more than wins. Winning and competition are only part of the equation of a successful program or season. Winning is transient, but life skills learned on the field of play and in training sessions are enduring and last a lifetime. Good sportsmanship, physical fitness, goal setting, self evaluation, problem solving, dealing with disappointment, developing a positive self-concept and group loyalty are skills and ideals which can be utilized long after a players career has ended. To this end, the Club will strive to instill these skills which will enhance a child’s development as he or she matures into adulthood. The pursuit of excellence in school is imperative. The Club is dedicated to promoting high academic standards and expects all players to pursue their schoolwork with a mature attitude. The Club will endeavor to provide its players and coaches with a wholesome and challenging soccer education program that places emphasis on learning, fun, excitement and achievement. The Club is committed to making each player’s overall experience a valuable one. Training and game environments will be carefully designed with age-appropriateness of teaching techniques and competition in mind.
MISSION AND CLUB GOAL
Statement: The Prince William Courage Soccer Club teams compete in premier leagues throughout
Virginia and the Middle Atlantic States, and participate in highly competitive
tournaments nationwide. The mission of the Club is to maximize every players potential and to provide opportunities for them to earn college scholarships, professional contracts, or selection to the United States national teams. The program focuses on the development of the individual as a
student athlete and as a citizen, while promoting teamwork and sportsmanship.
Club Goal To be one of the premier youth soccer clubs in Virginia as well as Region I
whose players are recognized for their excellence, commitment and sportsmanship to the game of soccer.
CODE OF CONDUCT
Players involved in any PWSI team play a vital role in creating the image of a Premier Soccer Organization such as Prince William Soccer Inc. Therefore, in order to create a positive image and set a good example, each player must adhere to the Prince William Soccer Athletic Code. Please note the following: The use or possession of alcoholic beverages is prohibited. The use or possession of tobacco products is prohibited. The use or possession of illegal drugs (subject to penalty of law) is prohibited. In the interest of safety and fair competition, the misuse of any substance is prohibited as well as the use of any substance which is intended to alter performance. Violators of any part of the Prince William Soccer Athletic Code will be asked to leave the club.
LEVELS OF PLAY
The Club develops proficient soccer players based on the individual player’s capabilities and provides the players and teams with opportunities to be exposed to the highest levels of competition from the local level up to the national level. The Club has a comprehensive competitive program designed for the youth athlete to play in an environment matched to their abilities and desires. This program is designed to adhere to the needs of youth soccer players at three levels of competitive play: Red, White, and Black. At all three levels of play, the goal is to have players who strive for excellence and have confidence with their skills and in their teammates to play under pressure from the opponents. PLEASE NOTE AND CONSIDER: Competitive teams are formed for a full year…fall and spring seasons. The Club and its teams are making a year’s commitment for each player. No player may be cut from a competitive team during the seasonal year. The Club and teams expect a commitment from each player for the full year…fall and spring. The commitment level varies slightly between levels of play but involves as a minimum expectation attendance at practices, games and tournaments.
Characteristics and Goals of our Red, White and Black teams
The Club strives to assist its players in their pursuit of soccer excellence by providing the best coaching and training available. Teams will play the best competition available and will be entered in local, state and national tournaments in the continuing quest for player development and team success.

TEAMS
The Club’s Competitive Program provides three levels of play for both male and female players. Demands for both time and commitment increase as players graduate to higher level teams as noted in Section 4.0 under “Levels of Play”. The Travel Programs Coordinator in conjunction with the TDOC shall decide upon the number of teams formed in a particular age group and the level at which each team will play. Teams are selected in June for the following fall and spring seasons. These teams will remain together until tryouts the following June. However, players may be asked to play on a higher level team during the year. This is endorsed by the Club. For protocol purposes, the team coach of the player being requested to transfer must be informed by the higher level team coach prior to contact being made with the player and/or player’s parents. A player cannot be taken off of a roster unless the player or parents request a release from the team. Since teams are picked in June for both the fall and spring seasons, a commitment by the team has been made to every player on that particular team for a year. As such, the Prince William Courage requests that all players make the same commitment to their team and teammates and remain on the team for the entire fall and spring season
TEAM NAME
All teams will play under the Prince William Courage name preceded by the youngest birth year and followed by a team identifier. For example: the 90/91 Red team will be identified as the 91 Prince William Courage Red, the second highest 90/91 team formed will be identified as the 91 Prince William Courage White , the third team will be the 91 Prince William Courage Black and so on.
