After more than two years of managing the Howison Homestead Park turf fields, it is apparent we need to make some policy changes to better provide for the protection and safety of players and spectators, as well as protect the club’s significant investment in the turf fields. The following rules have been developed in collaboration with the Prince William County Park Authority and apply to all organizations which utilize the turf fields:
- Use is by permit or prior approval only. No exceptions!
- Only players, coaches and officials are permitted on the FieldTurf surface. Spectators shall remain outside the fencing at all times, including games and training sessions, except during field set up as necessary.
- Players and coaches are not permitted to enter the field area until their approved start time. Teams may warm up outside the fenced areas.
- All games and other approved activities must end on time. Adjust playing time accordingly for late starts.
- Only turf shoes, sneakers, or molded cleats are allowed on the playing field.
- No dogs or other animals are permitted on the FieldTurf surface at any time.
- No smoking is permitted on or near the FieldTurf surface at any time.
- No food or drink other than water is allowed on the FieldTurf surface. In particular, no chewing gum or sunflower seedsare allowed.
- Do not move any equipment without prior permission. No climbing on the nets or training goals. Please ensure children are closely supervised.
- No littering – please pick up all trash after games or practice and place in a trash receptacle for disposal.
I understand these changes may cause some changes to your viewing preferences. We appreciate the many sacrifices parents and players make to participate in our programs and will continue to work with the Park Authority to create additional options to enhance spectator viewing of the small-sided matches in particular.
