League Director Contact Information

The League Director (LD) manages resources within their age group.  They are responsible for recruiting coaches, and they work with the Recreational Coordinator to ensure that players are assigned timely and accurately.  LDs serve as the primary communication link between the Recreational Coordinator, other PWSI sources, and the coaches in their age group.  They are the first point of contact for issues elevated from their coaches.   The League Directors, Commissioners and Coordinators are shown below.

Pre-season contacts are listed here

  • For answers to general program or registration questions, contact the Director of Recreational Programs (Gabriel Portillo) by email at gportillo@pwsi.org; or by Clubhouse telephone at 703-670-6061 x113. If you call and there is no answer, please leave a message. You may also email the general Clubhouse at clubhouse@pwsi.org.
  • To contact us about uniforms go to www.pwsi.org or email Gabriel Portillo at gportillo@pwsi.org
  • To discuss team placement or to make sure a special request is considered, contact your league director. League directors make all team assignments and are the only ones who can consider changes to team assignments.

In-season contacts are listed here. Once a player is rostered to a team, most questions should be asked of the team coach or the coach’s league director.

  • These issues could include questions about the game schedule, rainout procedures, All Stars, practice schedule, amount of playing time, etc.

Coaches and players are also supported by league directors. League directors are supported by Commissioners.

  • Coaches’ main point of contact during the season is the league director. Contact them for any issue relating to game schedules, changes in the game schedule, and roster issues.
  • League directors’ main point of contact is their Commissioner.

Want to be a League Director?

The time commitments for being a league director vary. Preseason you will need about 15 hours spread over the four weeks before the first coaches meeting to assign players to teams, to identify coach staffing requirements, and to attend just one or two meetings.

Once the season starts your primary role will shift to being a sounding board for concerns and issues that coaches, players and player families may have. You also need to briefly contact coaches weekly to make sure that they have the latest PWSI informational updates and that their concerns are reaching upward to PWSI. Email works great for handling this task. Approximate time commitment is 1 to 1.5 hours weekly. Will you be a league director? Contact the Commissioner of the league you’re interested in.
